Skinzi Cosmetics was born out of sheer frustration.

This photo was taken years ago when I started using liquid matte lipsticks. Just minutes after application, I quickly realized they flaked and were extremely drying.

I found myself dissatisfied with what's available in the marketplace.

The products I've tried felt tight on the lips, and after eating a greasy meal, they flaked, exposing the inner part of my lips. It created a distinct contrast between my natural lip color and my lipstick color.

I immediately needed to reapply because of the flaking that occurred. I liked the matte formulas a lot but I wanted the best of both worlds. I wanted a long lasting formula and I wanted it to fade evenly after eating oily/greasy foods, just like a traditional lipstick.

I've tried every liquid matte lipstick I could find and had the same recurring problem with each of them. It felt like paint crusted on my lips. While the formulas were long lasting, they were also extremely drying.

At one point, I remember talking to a colleague at work and noticed that, instead of looking at me in the eye, she was fixated on my seemingly flaky lips during the entire conversation.

At that moment, I knew that after a long, fulfilling career as a Quality Engineer, it was time to focus on my other passion: cosmetics.

After months of searching, we found a team of skilled chemists at our California based ISO laboratory. They rose to the challenge and delivered on every single requirement on our long list.

The result is our custom, non-toxic matte formula. It's so comfortable and lightweight, and it fades evenly. Best of all, it's vegan and free of animal testing, paraben, phthalates, sulfates and gluten. We've enriched it with Vitamin E for healthy and supple lips.

The moral of this story? Sometimes frustration can be a good thing. It's what drove us to create a matte formula that feels luxurious on your lips.
